I heard back from my editor at Albert Whitman today. They like my Truth About T.M.S. proposal…and the “trump card” is okay!!! Teen didn’t think I’d get away with it…to be honest, I wasn’t sure I would, either…but everyone at Albert Whitman seems to understand what I’m doing. So the final word was, “proceed…just be careful with that trump card.” *I* don’t want the book to be so controversial that school libraries won’t carry it, so as long as I sort of use that as my guide (i.e. is this getting so controversial that school librarians will be nervous about ordering it?) I’ll be fine.

They want the book on their Fall 2007 list, so that means I need to turn in the full manuscript by Halloween…or Thanksgiving for sure. That’s do-able…once school starts (Aug. 21) I’ll be able to get back to my regular routine. But I’d also like to finish up the proposal for the Monkey Man sequel in the next couple of weeks…

Good news!

Congratulations! I’m sure you’ll make the deadline.

We start school here on August 16th, but my youngest is in Kindergarten, and only goes one out of the first three days. I love having my girls home, but get so much more work accomplished when they are at school or camp during the day.

Wow, you REALLY start early! I know the feeling….much as I like having my kids home, I do get more done when they’re at school. But they’re growing up so fast. It won’t be long before they’re both on their own…and then I’ll have all kinds of time.
