In honor of Banned Books Week, I am rereading Catcher in the Rye, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I LOVED that book when I was in high school…but I haven’t reread it in years. I wanted to see if I had any new perspective reading it as an adult. So far, I’m enjoying it just as much as I did in high school. But one thing that surprises me is I remember the language being much worse than it really is…have I just become desensitized to it?

Teen finally read it (for the first time) yesterday (in one sitting). I wanted him to read it when I homeschooled him, but unfortunately, we never got around to it. He had to read it for his Quest for Human Destiny class today, though. Doesn’t that sound like a cool class? I understand the professor is AWESOME! I’m SO tempted to go down to campus this afternoon and sit in on the lecture myself. But part of the reason Teen and I get along so well is I don’t make a habit of publicly embarrassing him. I guess I’ll have to wait and hear about the lecture tonight.
