I submitted another picture book to an editor I’ve worked with before. She warned me up front that it didn’t sound like the kind of project they’d likely be interested in (which surprised me…it’s not all that different from the project we just finished), but she was willing to take a look anyway. I got an e-mail from her…the manuscript made the first cut, so that’s good news. It’ll be discussed at the acquisition meeting in May (they don’t have time to discuss it in April). Also good news.

So what’s the bad news? She called me DOTTI! Dotti???? I HOPE that was a typo. The T is right next to the R on a keyboard…it could’ve been a typo. Or…it’s possible she really doesn’t know my name! I honestly don’t know. We’ve never spoken on the phone and her e-mails are always very short, crisp and professional. I think I’m going to assume it’s a typo. I like that idea better than the idea that she has forgotten my name.

Good news, but…

After working with an editor on a book for about a year, the editor called me in an email “Sue.” I pretended not to notice it.

And hopefully she got your name right after that? This is actually not the first time this has happened to me. Though it was very early in the relationship the other time.

Ditzi???? You’re in trouble now! 🙂

Thanks for the luck….if this pans out, it’s sure nice to have an agent now. There were things in the last contract with them that I was unsure about.

    When you’re a writer . . .

. . . you have to concentrate on the good news in the good news/bad news jokes.

    Way to go, Dorothy!
