My editor likes my compromise for the beginning of the Monkey Man sequel, too. In fact, I get the impression she likes the compromise idea better than what I originally turned in. (So do I!) I feel very lucky…I’m never TRULY writing alone.

But I’m not even working on that project right now. I’m still plugging away on final revisions for The Truth About Truman (and I’m plugging away on my screen porch…my favorite place to work on a beautiful Iowa day like this…except I had to put up with music from the guys who are working on my next door neighbor’s roof a little while ago…and now I’m having to smell their pizza).

Yes, technically I DID turn that manuscript in a week ago. But last Friday, right before I left for my retreat, I started cleaning my desk (which I really only do when I finish a big project)…and my editor’s letter was lying out…and my eyes happened to catch on something I realized I never addressed in my revision! So I quickly e-mailed her about it and told her I would still fix that…and while I’ve been trying to fix it, I’ve come across these other sections that I thought still needed some attention. I was afraid when I told her I was tweaking some more that she was going to be a little ticked off (hey, why tick off just one editor in a week when you can tick off TWO of them?!?!)…but she actually agreed with me on most of my points. So…I am still tweaking.

But I must let go…at the end of the weekend…(maybe even sooner if the weather is as nice as it’s supposed to be…I may need to hike…or geocache…instead of work!)

Is it not a stunningly gorgeous day today!? We’re thinking Homecoming parade, maybe.

Good luck with those last few tweaks!

I LOVE days like this! I hope you’re working outside, too?

Junior High Kid is SO there for the Homecoming parade…he’s going with a group of friends, then they’re all off to the big NW dance and pizza at someone’s house (Ha! Not mine this time!) after that. Last I heard, College Student was not planning on the parade. What’s wrong with this picture? He’d rather have sushi with his dad and me (unless he gets a better offer before then). 🙂

I’m very glad to hear that!

Hello! I’m Kayla, an aspiring author, myself. I loved your first book, Do You Know the Monkey Man. I thougth that it was amazing, and I’m so glad to hear that you’re writing a sequel. May I ask you one thing though: what on earth would you call it? Thanks so much! Have a great weekend, weekends are for resting (except for me, who is typing my newest manuscript, and except for you, who is thinking about what your agent is going to think of your book next). Thanks, and God always bless ya.

Thank you, Kayla! I’m glad you liked the first one…it helps when I get stuck on the second one. Unfortunately, I don’t have a title yet. I wish I did! I keep hoping the right one will come to me as I’m writing.

Good luck with YOUR writing. I knew I wanted to be an author when I was your age (I don’t remember a time I DIDN’T want to be an author.) If you REALLY want to be an author, you will be one day!
