When I set out on my walk this morning, it was 37 degrees and drizzly (after a high of 54 yesterday). When I returned from my walk an hour later, it was 32 degrees and still drizzly. When I got out of the shower fifteen minutes after that, it was 24 degrees…and the drizzle had frozen. It is now 5 degrees (-17 with the wind chill), the pavement is mostly dry, and we haven’t had any real snow to speak of. (The plow has been by, though…where was the plow a few days ago when our street was a MESS???)

We’ve been under a blizzard warning most of the day, so my Toastmasters meeting for tonight has been canceled. My music practice has been canceled. School was let out two hours early (didn’t change my life any since I let Junior High Kid stay home so he could get some extra sleep and try and get over his cold). And when the drizzle started freezing this morning and the weather channel threatened “rapidly deteriorating conditions” due to the quickly falling temperatures and the freezing rain, I instant messaged my husband and suggested he might want to head home a little early (since he works 30 miles away). He did.

Now that the blizzard warning has been canceled, it’s starting to snow! Are we going to get our blizzard after all?

For the record, I’m tired of winter…

The blizzard that wasn’t

When I drove home from work last night it was in the balmy fifties and pouring down SHEETS of rain.

This morning it was bone dry outside with a wind chill of 10 above. Go figure.

I was going to say that wind chill of 10 above looks pretty to me, but then I checked weather.com and saw that’s what it is here right now! It warmed up! It was -20 this morning.
