1. I can jog 3.2 miles without taking a break to walk in between. I know because I did it today. And I did it in 31 minutes, which yes, is still slow, but it’s faster than I used to do it. I used to do it in 33 minutes.

2. College Student has an AWESOME internship lined up for this summer. Great experience, will look good on his resume and will likely lead to other amazing things for him, great pay…the only problem is the internship is halfway across the country.

3. I am handling #2 better than I expected to be. But…see #2 (great experience et.). And he IS 18…he started college young, so going away to college was never really an option for him. This will be good for him. And probably good for me, too, to get used to what it will be like when he’s not here. At least I’ll know he’s coming back in 12 weeks!

4. I got feedback on Monkey Man 2 from one of my most-trusted readers and I’m still feeling okay about things. Still working HARD this next week, but it’ll be okay to send it to my editor.

5. It’ll just be Junior High Kid and me tonight…I think we’re going to get monster burritos from Chipotle and have a Veronica Mars marathon (he still hasn’t seen them all). Unless he gets a better offer between now and then. He’s more likely to get a better offer than I am.

I wish I didn’t have stoplights on my run – they give me a chance to stand still and catch my breath. I need to stop taking so many stops (see also – need to blow nose, need to change song on ipod)

Not much you can do about the nose blowing or the stoplights, but can’t you set the ipod so you don’t have to change the song? Or are you just not in the mood to hear a particular song some days?

I have two routes…one involves circling the .8 mile track at the park four times, the other is to head out down the bike path. I like the bike path because it has some killer hills to challenge me, but there is one spot where I have to cross a pretty busy street and though there is a crosswalk there (no light), cars don’t often stop to let a jogger go. I really do lose that momentum when I stop there. But I haven’t managed to jog that whole route yet (because of the hills). I still walk two and a half songs.

The nose and the ipod are just excuses I tell myself.

Congrats on shaping up Monkey Man 2.

Oh no. Blowing the nose is not an “excuse.” That’s a legitimate reason to stop. So is a stoplight. But I do draw the line at switching the song.

It’s tough out there…my college student has friends who are graduating who are having a hard time finding something.

#1 I am jealous of the jogging. I haven’t been able to run for years now and I miss it. (Big on track in school.)

    #2 YEAH! and boo!

#3 It will be good for both of you. But hard. Very hard.

#4 YEAH again. Good feedback always makes me work harder.

    #5 LOL

    Happy Friday/

Okay, I’m jealous of you for running track in school! I didn’t play any sports in school…didn’t think I could, so I didn’t even try. I think I missed out.

But the fact that I never considered myself anything close to an athlete when I was younger is what makes it so amazing to me that I can actually jog 3.2 miles NOW!

Well, since it takes me almost 40 minutes to run that same distance, I’m impressed.

I couldn’t begin to run 3.2 miles at any pace. I do well to fast-walk for that long! Lots of good/scary things going on–congrats!

Hey, never say never! I never thought I could run that far either…then a neighbor and I started training for it a few years ago. I wish she’d kept with it so I’d have somebody to jog with.
