I am really out of the habit of blogging (but at least I’m back in the habit of writing!). Last week I was going to blog about the picture book I’m working on, my teen writer’s group (which wrapped up for the summer last Wednesday!), a new book group I joined, my children’s writers book group…but I never actually did it. Today, when I thought about blogging, I realized I didn’t have much to blog about. I went to yoga last night…I have Toastmasters tonight…then I remembered Laura Salas tagged me for a meme way back in May. So maybe that’s a good way to ease back into this blogging thing?

1. The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.
2. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
3. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5-6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read the player’s blog.
4. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.

What were you doing ten years ago?

Pretty much the same thing I’m doing today…writing. But ten years ago I hadn’t sold any novels of my own yet. My picture book (now out of print) The Great Tooth Fairy Rip-Off was out…and W is for Wisconsin was just out…and I was looking forward to fall when M is for Minnesota would be out.

We lived in Cedar Rapids…my kids were almost 9 and 4 (great ages!). I think about my dear friend down the street who sometimes just needs to get out of her house (she has a 1, 2, 10 and 11 year old) and I want to tell her not to wish these days away because I would love to turn back the clock to when my kids were little.

What are five things on your to-do list for today (not in any particular order):

What are some snacks you enjoy?

COOKIES!
Buttered popcorn
Chips and salsa
Cheese and crackers
My mother-in-law’s virtually calorie free apple fluff

What would you do if you were a billionaire?

I’d still write…I’d probably stay in the same house, but I’d travel more…and I’d donate money to misc. literacy and child welfare organizations.

What are three of your bad habits?

Overeating
Not letting things go when I should
Piling stuff (and never dealing with the piles)

What are five places where you have lived?
